KPC Youth & Community is a charitable organisation, which provides a safe and nurturing environment for children, young people and those who impact on their lives. KPC does this by the provision of training, recreation, advice, and support to give them better opportunities to help improve their well-being. In addition KPC work with local unemployed to help with digital upskilling, low level accredited training and support with skills to help improve employability.

Help for local unemployed

KPC supports the Job Centre Plus signing on sessions each week at KPC on Wednesday from 2pm-4pm.

In addition to KPC offers support with job searches, creating or updating CVs, writing job applications etc.

KPC staff also offer a range of generic work related accredited training opportunities for ages 18+, via the Agored Cymru accreditation scheme or Virtual College, active inclusion Steps 2 Progress programme. Much of the work with the 25+ group is building on IT confidence and knowledge, and addressing the barriers of digital exclusion. Courses run include:

  • Intro to First Aid
  • Fire Safety
  • Food Hygiene Level 2
  • Substance Misuse Awareness
  • Customer Service Skills
  • Interview Techniques & Skills
  • Health & Safety in the Workplace
  • Health & Safety in the Construction Industry (Pre-requisite to CSCS Green Labourer’s Card)

On a Wednesday morning (9 – 12) and Friday (9 – 12 ) one to one support is available to clients who need to create Universal Jobs Match accounts, create email accounts, learn basic IT, to have the confidence to apply for jobs, create covering letters and attachments. In addition staff update/create their CVs to ensure they have improved chances of employment, and also through the low level accredited training confidence to progress within areas relevant to their career choice.
